Sugars dashed about her home, carefully aligning her tapestries and dusting her windowsills. Her friends would arrive soon, and she wanted everything to look perfect.
To be frank, Sugars never had many friends. Meeting Rhea had been entirely by chance, the grumpy Snugzi had meekly requested Sugars taught her how to cook (offering generous compensation). The two hit it off quickly afterwards.
Reaper was someone who had just appeared into Sugars life- a regular at her restaurant, whom Sugars soon began to grow a soft spot for.
That brings her to present day; scrambling around her house to clean up, and gathering all of her ingredients in preparation of making some spooky treats with her new friends. They had planned a last minute hangout to bake some goodies for halloween, but unfortunately that meant they had a little less than a day to prepare a frankly unrealistic amount of treats. Nonetheless, Sugars was excited to see her friends. They were due to arrive any minute now.
Eventually a soft knock echoed through the kitchen, signalling their arrival. Eager to see them, Sugar stood quickly, rushing to the door in a haste.
‘Rhea! Reaper!’ The giant Snugzi’s smiled brightly as she leaned down to pull them into a group hug, the two smaller Snugzis wriggling out of her grip almost immediately.
‘Hey,’ Reaper said, offering a wave, their face deadpan.
Sugars mimicked the gesture, before stepping back to let her friends inside.
Rhea said nothing as she walked in, only offering a grumpy nod of acknowledgement. Amusement warmed Sugars heart at her friends feigned nonchalance, easily spotting the small smile tugging at her lips. She clasped her paws together in anticipation, guiding the newcomers towards the kitchen.
‘Alright, so I have all of the ingredients for the cookies….’

The night flew by quickly. Sugars did the bulk of the work, mixing, pouring and baking in tandem, her chickens whirling about to provide her with the recipes and measuring cups. Reaper slyly offered to ‘taste test’, and took their job surprisingly seriously, tasting each treat and chewing slowly before delivering a verdict. As for Rhea… Despite Sugars adamant refusal of her help (though it was less out of courtesy and more out of genuine fear), the grumpy Snugzi was determined to help. Rhea was not particularly good at cooking. (‘She’s awful at it,’ Reaper would supply helpfully, while Sugars smacked them. ‘She just needs practice!’) The smaller Snugzi stumbled about the kitchen, burning cookies and spilling flour on the floor, Sugars chickens squawking in alarm as the cozy room became something akin to a battlefield. Eventually, Rhea opted to offer Sugars a sorrowful glance in resignation. The giant Snugzi just offered her a smile, though it quickly morphed into a grimace as she surveyed the mess her friend left behind.
In no time, dozens of tins of cookies, crepes and sugary sweets were neatly sprawled across the window of Sugars kitchen, ready to be handed out. The room was full of sweet and spicy scents, the gentle warmth of freshly baked goods blanketing the three. The giant Snugzi beamed at her friends, proud of their work. All of their hands cramped from the icing they had done earlier, but the spooky drawings scrawled across the treats were well worth the struggle. Sugars truly couldn’t believe how well the night had gone, despite the minor hiccups. Spending time with her friends and baking would always be the recipe (no pun intended) for a wonderful evening.
There was a momentary silence, before Rhea accidentally dropped a tin of cookies on Reapers tail. The kitchen erupted into chaos.
‘I can’t wait for tomorrow,’ Sugars said quietly to nobody in particular, an amused smile tugging at her lips as she watched her friends throw fistfuls of flour at each other, Reaper snarling menacingly and Rhea yelping in terror.
